Having obtained approval for its plan to build a CRC mill in Phu My Industrial Park of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province last November, Posco started its first phase construction of a 1.2 million tonnes per year tandem cold-rolling mill on first of August. (The former plan was to build a 700,000 tpy of CRC, but later boosted to 1.2 mtpy). The plan is to supply 700,000 tpy of CRC for use in automotive applications while 300,000 tpy CRC will be sold in-house to Pohang Coated Steel (Pocos), a 300,000 tpy galvanized and aluminized steel sheets venture which is being built next to Posco's CRC project. The rest of full hard coils will be supplied in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Posco is proceeding to build the second phase of 3 mtpy HRC facility. However, the commissioning schedule is not yet confirmed.
