CIS mills are raising their steel billet price to FOB US$530-535/ton, and some steelmakers even started to quote their price for February 2008.

Although the price is not competitive in Middle East area, the buyers are expected to accept the new price because demand is good.

Currently Turkey's domestic price of ST37 billet is prevailing at around US$550-570/ton, and the lowest export price is FOB US$550/ton. If rebar price continuous to increase, steel billets price will be followed.

In addition, Far Eastern steel billet market continuous to be strong. Russia steel billet import price has reached CFR US$610/ton in Vietnam.
