The Ministry of Industry and Trade has adopted an ambitious plan to turn the country into a major motorcycle production and design centre in the region by 2015.

The ministry hopes over the next seven years, bike production will be able to meet 100 per cent of rural and 90 per cent of urban demand, with the majority of parts made locally.

Annual motorcycle exports are expected to reach US$400 million.
