worldsteel Lists Out Topmost Crude Steel Producers in June This Year

The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) dropped substantially during the month of June this year. The monthly production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has plunged heavily by nearly 7% over the previous year. These countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2019.

The world crude steel production totalled 148.295 million tonnes (Mt) in June 2020, as compared with the output of 159.541 Mt in the same month a year before.

The Chinese crude steel production managed to record modest jump in output, while all other major producing countries witnessed sharp dip in output. The country, whose output totalled 91.579 Mt, accounted for almost 62% of the global steel production.
