A Chinese refractory brick producer plans to open a $5.5 million facility in Kentucky, Kallanish learns from an announcement by the state’s governor.

PRCO America’s flagship refractory brick facility will be built in western Kentucky in the town of Hickory. The 35,000-square-foot facility will create 32 jobs.

Refractory brick is utilised by the steel industry for lining blast and reheat furnaces and transfer ladles.

Production is slated to begin by the end of the year.

“The opportunity to announce PRCO America’s first US facility in West Kentucky comes at a welcome time as we reopen businesses, reinvigorate the economy across the commonwealth and continue to create good-paying jobs for Kentuckians,” says Governor Andy Beshear. “Kentucky’s many attractive qualities – including our workforce and, for this development, our proximity to US steel mills – will continue attracting jobs and investment as we move forward.”
