Source: Scrap Monster
The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) dropped substantially during the month of April this year. The monthly production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has plunged heavily by nearly 13% over the previous year. These countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2019.
The world crude steel production totaled 137.098 million tonnes (Mt) in April 2020, as compared with the output of 157.672 Mt in the same month a year before.
The Chinese crude steel production managed to record marginal rise, while all other major producing countries witnessed sharp dip in output. The country, whose output totaled 85.033 Mt, accounted for more than 62% of the global steel production.
